BIG ASS TRUCK I.E. Hartford Concert reviews
Best Cult set list in years
30 years later and Sonic Temple rocks just as dramatically as it did in 1989. Ian and Billy brought their A-game to Seattle Monday night and treated their faithful fans to a high energy, pulse-pounding show. All in all, the best Cult show I have ever seen. Ian hit all the notes and brought that familiar swagger we've all come to love over these many years. Instead of a rhythm guitarist, we had a keyboardist, who was a great addition to the live sound. Billy carried the entire 6-string load all night, as the touring band did not consist of a second guitarist for the first time in forever. The rest of the band were very tight, as usual, with the heart beat of the band, John Tempesta, driving the band non-stop. His solos were blistering and crisp, and he played with such passion, tearing into all the familiar favorites plus the deep cup gems like "New York City," "Soul Asylum," "Automatic Blues," and even "Spirit Walker." Age has not lessened his impact in the slightest. And what a guitar god he is. Everyone was on their feet the whole night.
